What is the difference between Special and Common and Service and Replacement

In our program we only have ONE database for parts.  Even though there are several different ways we use the parts there is just one place to enter a part.

You can read the other articles on adding a part.  This article explains the difference between how they are used.

On the proposal

Special Parts are pulled in from that same database, but are always actually printed on the proposal.
Common Parts are pulled in from the same database, but are NOT printed on the proposal.
Each of these parts are placed in the "Cost of Goods Sold" or COGS.  So, if you are using a margin, it will place a margin on the part.  A $10 part with a 50% margin will sell for $20.

On the Service Ticket

There is a place on that same part submission in the parts list for you to list out an amount of time to do the repair.  In the default area you list your value of a service techs hour.  In the defaults area you have ranges of parts markups.

So lets say we have a part that is $10 and we have a range of default to mark it up 600%.  That part will sell for $60.  If you put $100 labor in the defaults area and 1 hour on the part in the part list, then the labor will be $100.  So together the flat rate price will be $160 for this part.

You can watch a short video on the difference in how we apply these parts differently to each of the areas of the program.
