What is Apply to Top Line?
Currently the way that Credits, Rebates, and Discounts are calculated in the system is based on a sliding scale. For instance when multiple CRD’s are applied on the price, the second CRD that is discounted will be based on that new discounted price. Not the TOP LINE amount.
For example; if you took 5% off of $10,000, the new price would be $9,500. If you took an additional 5% off, it would take it off of the new price of $9,500. Making that Credit worth $475, new price being $9,025.
Whenever you check “APPLY TO TOP LINE”, the CRD’S are applied separately to the TOP LINE AMOUNT. If you were to APPLY TO TOP LINE. In the example both of the 5% CRDs would be a $500 discount.
If you want to add CRDs that are applied for that “Top Line” amount. You would check the “Apply to Top Line” in the Credits, Rebates, Discounts section of the Proposal.
Can I check both Apply to Top line and Apply To Selling Price?
Yes. Whether you apply to selling price or not, whenever there are multiple CRD’s applied, the discounted amount is always based on the previous deducted price.
You should only apply a Credit, Rebate, or Discount to the Selling Price for things that you know to be 100% true. For instance, INSTANT Savings Rebates, Loyal Customer Credits, Senior Citizen Discounts, or Military/First Responder Discounts. Apply to Selling Price, deducts from the Final Selling Price.
You would not check Apply to Selling Price if you would like to show an incentived price to the customer, or a Net Investment Price. For instance, something that you would not apply to selling price are Cash Discounts (To Show a CASH price), or NON-INSTANT savings rebates (If the customer will receive a check in the mail from a third party).
