Once you create a proposal either from a template or from the wizard, the current Gross margin is set at that time. If you were to go back into the defaults and change anything about the defaults it will not affect older proposals.
The only way a existing proposal can change the price is when COSTS of the units changes from your supplier and those costs are changed in the program.
