"Applying to Selling Price” refers to the toggle button located under the Credits, Rebates, Discounts section of the Edit Proposal screen. This button can be turned on or off.
Only the "Applied to the Selling Price” Credits, Rebates, or Discounts will reduce the FINAL SELLING PRICE that is shown on the printed version for the customer. If Apply to Selling Price check box is unchecked, it reflects that price onto the NET INVESTMENT, or the Potential Savings Price After all Credits, Rebates, or Discounts are applied.
Examples of items that should be applied to the selling price:
Senior Citizen discounts
Military discounts
First Responder discounts
Instant Savings Utility Rebates
Manufacturer Rebates
These are discounts or rebates that are confirmed and can be deducted directly from the selling price because they are known to be 100% valid.
Items that should NOT be applied to the selling price:
Non-instant utility rebates (such as mail-in rebates from a utility company)
Incentive pricing or rebates that have not been fully verified
Discounts or incentives that are processed separately and are not deducted directly from the project cost
In general, if the discount or rebate is not guaranteed or is being handled through another process, it should not be applied to the selling price.
